These anchor teeth are first prepared similar to teeth covered by dental crowns so that the bridge can be bonded in place. Removable bridges, also known as partial dentures, are held in place with metal clasps or with precision custom attachments.

A bonding agent is first applied to the tooth, and a composite plastic resin is applied. We then sculpt this resin into the desired shape. Excess resin is trimmed, and the tooth is smoothed and polished. Although dental bonding looks natural and can be completed in one visit, the material is not as strong as your natural tooth, and it is more likely that you might stain or chip your bonding than you would a porcelain veneer or your natural tooth. Dental bonding lasts three to five years, on the average.
